A toolkit to unplug from the capitalist matrix
Introducing -- A newsletter on the science of social justice, collectivism & abolition
I. The Introduction
The abolitionist, decolonized, collectivist healing guide + medicine toolkit to unplug from capitalism and ground in community & our ecosystems
Hi friends and comrades-
Thank you for being here. Welcome to my first newsletter! My name is Ayesha and some of you might know me as @wokescientist on Instagram. I’m an abolitionist Germ doctor, Infectious Diseases Scientist, anarchist educator, grassroots organizer & writer decoding the science of social justice, neurodiversity, collectivism, trauma & liberation.
For brevity here- I won’t write a lot about why I do this but feel free to check out my website to learn about my background, experience, roots and why I crafted abolitionist science (a new field of study that uses a scientific lens to develop tangible ways we can abolish systems of global oppression- starting from within and expanding to our friends, chosen family, community & beyond).
On my website, you can also find a list of topics or issues I focus on and sign up for 1 on 1 mentorship and coaching sessions with me.
Instagram is toxic AF and harms your overall wellbeing and health
Instagram has become a toxic capitalist neoliberal platform that is hurting you more than it is helping. It began as an individualist platform reducing people with meaningful nuanced lives to curated online CVs and resumes. We spent years only sharing staged snippets of our “perfect” lives hoping it would make us happy.
We aspired to capitalist milestones of success like “climbing the ladder” and showed off our “achievements”- all while not realizing how social media enables capitalism to define our sense of self, drives loneliness, isolation, an obsession with material possessions and turns us from complex humans to mindless consumers stuck in echo chambers, easily exploitable by companies while being cut-off from real support systems.
I want us to mobilize for each other’s communities.
Social media commodifies & exploits leftist educators and drains us of life. In my ~1.5 years of having a public IG account, I’ve learned that the interface breeds individualism, decreases our attention spans & patience, discourages compassion, encourages an “us vs. them” mentality and desensitizes us to both the joys & horrors of the world as we doom-scroll on the hunt for fast hits of validation. It prevents us from truly getting to know each other. While I will still promote my work on Instagram, it will no longer be my primary platform for education and art activism.
I want to not only share my life’s work with you, but I also think our connections and skills-sharing can transcend virtual platforms and have a real impact in improving our daily lives.
This newsletter is part of my efforts to hold space for sustainable community building of radical abolitionist open-minded folks willing to unlearn and explore practical ways we can practice liberation in our daily lives.
To the divergents, outliers, survivors, anomalies and people who are willing to do what it takes to push back against power structures that divide us and unplug from capitalist systems (aka the matrix) as best we can- let's build together.

This newsletter sustains me, my community & our mutual aid efforts.
Economic justice is critical to sustaining our movements. Compensating leftist educators for their life’s work and community offerings protects the endless time, labor and energy that they dedicate. I believe people tangibly invest in the knowledge, spaces and resources they value.
As a paid subscriber, you will also be able to submit feedback that could help improve the newsletter and suggest topics you’d like to be featured. I will host monthly group healing sessions where we could share personal lessons, build solidarity, share our community’s needs and navigate our growth together.
I hope we can continue to build together!
In tangible solidarity always,
Ayesha.
